When your child finishes school, they may express a desire to leave home. If you cannot make them stay at home, help them select a suitable university or other educational setting that will put them on the right path towards the career you have destined them for.
This can be a challenging time for you as your child is no longer within easy striking distance and you do not have as many ways of knowing what they are up to. There are ways of retaining control despite distance, and this is the time where you will really begin reaping the fruit of your efforts of the past years. |
Keep in Touch
While at university, your child may be distracted by their academic work, student life and the dazzle of a different city. That is no excuse for forgetting to keep you up to date and checking on your wellbeing and wishes on a regular basis!

Home for the Holidays
Semester breaks and summer holidays are a much-needed return to normal for you and your child. It is imperative that they return back to the fold for a brief reconditioning:
Your child may express a wish to spend their holiday elsewhere; impress on them there really is no choice here.
- Negate any wayward progress your child may have made while away
- Remind them of their duties towards you
- Counteract the brainwashing: children often learn foolish notions of self-determination and personal freedom at university
Your child may express a wish to spend their holiday elsewhere; impress on them there really is no choice here.
